A Little About Bulgaria

You may have heard about Bulgaria in recent months, how it has become a tourist hot spot and property investor's paradise. The cost of living is incredibly low. It's a great place to holiday, retire or live and there are many business opportunities. One can still buy a home with a quarter of an acre land for less than the price of a car! The economy is stable and, as is well known by now, Bulgaria is due to enter the EU in 2007. History has shown in many other cases of Euro-entry that property prices tend to rise and those who invest early do well.

Bulgaria as a country is a desirable place to live. It has mountains, coastline, lakes and plains, incredible nature, clean air, fantastic produce and a rich culture. The people are warm, hospitable and open. There are four distinct seasons. The summer's are hot but not humid and Christmas is always occasioned by snow.

In the winter there is downhill skiing, snow boarding, cross country skiing and other winter pursuits. during the rest of the year, activities include fishing, hunting, hiking and swimming. There are numerous health giving mineral spas and springs. For sufferers of asthma and respiratory problems, the resorts near Sliven provide clean, fresh air and relief. Bulgaria boasts year-round tourism; from summer sun, sand and sea tours to winter ski holidays and eco/village tourism.

Property prices have risen by 31% over the past year (according to Novinite.com) and are set to continue rising at a higher rate than any other European country.

Bulgarians are well educated and labour is inexpensive — as is the cost of living. For example, bulgaria has one of the highest standards of medical training and health care professionals charge up to 60% less than in the UK. (For more details on this subject, click here.)

In terms of investment, one can't go far wrong. The coastal and mountain areas have seen fantastic annual increases and returns over the past two years. The next influx of investment will be in the more upmarket sectors of eco and congressional tourism in alignment with Bulgarian government wishes. This, in our professional opinion, also happens to be the investment sector with the lowest capital demands and the greatest pound for pound returns. Prices of rural property have almost doubled over the past year, whereas land prices, although performing phenomenally well, have only risen 30%.

This is why we concentrate on Sliven and the surrounding area. Many of Bulgaria's most renowned and affluent citizens choose their homes in this beautiful mountain region.
